A List Apart: A Web Designer's Journey - Excellent article on developing CSS to replace hacked up tables for layouts.  A must read.  NB: this link is to the last (and best) page of the article, but the whole thing is worth reading.

Thanks to Ben Chapman for reminding me about this article.

Fusebox 3 start-up tutorial -

What is Fusebox 3?

Fusebox is a popular method for designing and developing web applications - originally only for ColdFusion, but it has been extended to cover web applications written for PHP, J2EE and ASP.

Fusebox 3, released in late 2001, is a major enhancement including:

  • Core code which does a lot of the work for you.
  • Much easier management of large applications with several directory levels.
  • Support for PHP, J2EE and ASP as well as ColdFusion.
  • Centralised layout templates - not quite a content management system, but much more powerful than CSS.

- Benefit From IT

Good intro tutorial, some links are a bit dated.

"honestpuck writes "Wrox Press seem to have become masters at putting together volumes from a large number of authors. This 600-page volume is another example. This way of working does have some drawbacks, there is a little repetition of some basic stuff throughout the book, but not enough to truly detract from it." Read on for the complete version of honestpuck's review.
