Simon P. Chappell writes "It used to be that a website could be standards compliant or it could be attractive and impressive to prospective customers, but it could almost never be both. Now with the rise of CSS compliant browsers, a new generation of web designers are finding that the old wisdom is ready to be retired. CSS technology allows a website to have both excellent, semantically indicated content and attractive layouts. Core CSS (2ed.) positions itself as a complete guide to all of this standards based goodness."

KonijnenBunny writes "May 3rd sees the release of the 0.6 version of Mozilla's Thunderbird e-mail and newsgroup client, featuring improved junk-mail controls and a new brand identity, including a new Firefox-style icon. I switched from some murky client which didn't exactly have a bright outlook regarding spam to Thunderbird a while back and was not dissapointed. Grab this latest version at Mozilla.org." Mac OS X users can also enjoy the new Pinstripe theme, which matches the previous theme of the same name applied to Firefox.

That's a lot of websites!  I still remember when all of the websites in the world were listed on a single page and that was only a little over 10 years ago.

It's the Data, Stupid. I finally have a personal content management system that lets me access the data, even when the software isn't running. Read on for details. [O'Reilly Weblogs]

A tantalizing peek into managing your data but a bit soft on details.  I get that structured text is the best idea, but processing it all is an issue that is not easily overcome by non-teknoid.  How would your average law faculty or student deal with this?
