Sketchy Grades for Cyber Schools. Dozens of online schools offer instruction in 19 states, and more are getting into the act. But many of the current schools aren't measuring up. By John Gartner. [Wired News] Points out the need for quality control in the development of online course materials. Cites cases in PA where students taking online courses do not score as well as counter-parts in traditional courses on standardized test. A key thing to keep in mind about DE is that it is not a game: education is serious and DE requires the same, or maybe a higher, level of commitment to education to succeed. In the world of CODEC, it will be the level of instiutional commitment to the offering and consuming of DE courses that will be the telling factor.
