OK, technically this is still a secret, but it is so cool: a Supremes newsfeed - cases, hot off the web, when you need to know. Hat's off to Tom Bruce for seizing the cutting edge again!

Google: Is all the news fit to post?. Nestled among headlines on Google News from the thousands of newspapers and wire services are press releases and government statements that aren't clearly distinguished from actual news articles. [CNET News.com]

Interesting since CNET includes raw press releases in its RSS feeds.  A little bit like the pot calling the kettle black.  Generally I think most folks are capable of sorting out the news from the press releases if they care to.  And let's not forget all of those great articles that are simply a reworking of the press release anyway.

Philips adds streaming to DVD recorder. The electronics giant is adding Internet connectivity and streaming capabilities to its reference design for DVD recorders. [CNET News.com]

Getting closer.  Here's what I want to do:

  1. Replace my VCR with a PVR that includes the option of burning a real DVD if I want to keep a copy.
  2. Stream the recorded programs to other rooms of my house over a wireless net.
  3. Play MP3 streams from my server to my stereo or elsewhere in the house as I want.
  4. Browse the web on my TV so I can take a quick look at stuff during commercials (PIP would probably be best

That's all, and I could cobble something together today and it would sorta work and it would cost some serious bucks and it would sorta suck.  I want Sony to build it for me so I can go to Circuit City and just buy it.
