ajc.com | Metro | Metro counties enter Net era - Now a tech-savvy Cherokee judge wants to take the idea a step further. Magistrate Court Judge Charles Robertson is proposing a new way for the court to notify defendants of court papers -- by e-mail. Very interesting. Basically the plan is if you file a civil suit in Cherokee county and provide the court with the defendant's email address, the court will email the party requesting that they come to the courthouse to sign for and pick-up the papers. Otherwise a deputy is sent to the party to serve the papers. Sounds like a winner to me. Something intersting about the article is the comment from an Emory University business proffessor. That's right, business prof, no comments from a law proffessor, though Emory has a number of those. To me it is interesting because it would seem to highlight the insular nature of law school from the actual practice and procedure of the law. 10:30:38 AM ![]() |
