WinLibre - "WinLibre is a rigorous selection of free, legal software for Windows 98, 2000, XP." It includes OpenOffice, Firefox, Gimp, etc.  in a single install package.  Still needs Windows, but you could use this as an alternative set of apps. 12:17:44 PM

Mozilla Launches Firefox 1.0 - "Early Tuesday morning, the Mozilla Foundation made Firefox 1.0 available for download. With the browser, the open-source development project hopes to attract more everyday Web users and snag 10 percent of the market in another year.
