Yahoo News Search via RSS!!. Geez, I turn off my aggregator for 12 hours and I miss this!!
You can now search Yahoo News and get the results in RSS. Hip Hip Hooray!! You can use Jeremy's tool to create the feeds and then plug them in your aggregator. It looks like Boolean is accepted as well.
On second thought, I'm not sure how useful this is. Yahoo news does not pull from that many sources that Google News, Rocket News, or World News would miss. As Dave says:
"I tried Google News. 4000 pubs all reporting the same story is 4000 times more boring than one."
No sense in overwhelming my aggregator. (link via Jenny, who is sitting right next to me!!) [Library Stuff]5:28:20 PM ![]() |
New Manila feature: Discussion Group RSS Feeds. "Manila can now generate an RSS feed for your site's discussion group. Your discussion group's RSS feed makes it easy for you and your readers to follow discussion on your site using any news aggregator which supports RSS." To get the new feature, update Manila.root. Scopeware Vision is a desktop tool that seems to incorporate, stream, and organize content for everything (including e-mail, contacts, Word docs, bookmarks, etc) that you normally use throughout the day. Well, the new version includes RSS Feeds.[Library Stuff] 2:07:40 PM ![]() |
The Shifted Librarian:"Adding RSS to Library Catalogs" A great idea. Imagine the strength of a current awareness service that was RSS-based, getting information about the resources you are interested in, in a timely and useful format. This is coming in open source stuff. Google it. 2:05:37 PM ![]() |

Mad Hatter Preview - Sun Java Desktop System Demo
from the late-entry dept. bengine writes "According to this article, Sun Java Desktop System is a good product overall, built on the well-established SuSE system with integration from Sun. It delivers what appears to be a very useful desktop OS and it has the chance to make a dent in the Windows monopoly. But Sun will have to differentiate itself on its quality, hardware, services and reputation. That means a lot of hard work, so the key questions will be how well they execute their strategy, how much public acceptance they gain and what message they convey through public venues." This makes a good companion to the earlier story linking to Mad Hatter screenshots. [Slashdot]
Anyone out there in teknoids land have a copy of the demo? 11:05:16 AM ![]() |
